    1. He was named in Empire Magazine‘s 1995 list of the ‘100 Sexiest Stars in Film History’ at the 57th spot.
    2. Holden was the best man at President Ronald Reagan’s wedding to Nancy Reagan in 1952.
    3. He was a passionate art collector, especially of antique Asian art. After his death, his precious art collection found a home at the Palm Springs Museum of Art.
    4. In 1954, Holden was awarded the Academy Award for ‘Best Actor’ for his role in Stalag 17 (1953). His acceptance speech was short and only included the words “Thank you”.
    5. He became an animal activist in his later life. In 1982, his partner Stefanie opened the William Holden Wildlife Foundation at the actor’s Mount Kenya Game Ranch.
