- He was named in Empire Magazine‘s 1995 list of the ‘100 Sexiest Stars in Film History’ at the 57th spot.
- Holden was the best man at President Ronald Reagan’s wedding to Nancy Reagan in 1952.
- He was a passionate art collector, especially of antique Asian art. After his death, his precious art collection found a home at the Palm Springs Museum of Art.
- In 1954, Holden was awarded the Academy Award for ‘Best Actor’ for his role in Stalag 17 (1953). His acceptance speech was short and only included the words “Thank you”.
