    1. In 1988, her father Floyd was diagnosed with neurological damage due to a virus that left him disabled. After that, her biological mother Betsy parted ways with him.
    2. She published her first book titled The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks in 2010, which earned a spot on The New York Times Best Seller list. It was based on the immortal cell line’s also known as HeLa that were found in the cancer cells of an African-American woman named Henrietta Lacks.
    3. Rebecca once stated that she was half “New York Jew” and a half “Midwestern Protestant”.
    4. In the past, she was appointed as the vice president of the National Book Critics Circle.
    5. Rebecca has been a tutor for creative writing and journalism at well-known universities such as the University of Pittsburgh, New York University, and the University of Memphis.
