Born in Albania, Mira moved to Victoria, Canada, when she was about 16 years old. Before graduating from Dartmouth College in 2012, she worked as an intern at The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (an American multinational investment bank and financial services company) – in 2011.
She then worked at Zodiac Aerospace (a now-defunct French company that supplied systems and equipment for aircraft) from 2012 until 2013 after which she joined Tesla, Inc. (an American multinational automotive and clean energy company that designs and manufactures electric vehicles, stationary battery energy storage devices, and related products and services).
After spending about 3 years there, Mira briefly joined Leap Motion, Inc. (an American company that used to manufacture and market a computer hardware sensor device and software that could process hand and finger motions as input).
She eventually joined OpenAI in 2018 and later became its chief technology officer – her responsibilities included overseeing the company’s research, product, and safety teams.
