Michael Johnston is an American actor, voice actor, and singer who came into prominence after playing the role of Corey Bryant in season 5 of the MTV supernatural teen drama television series Teen Wolf (2015-2017). He gained further popularity by starring in several other programs on the small screen including the superhero show Supergirl (2018) where he portrayed the part of Adam / Subject 0331, and after being featured in numerous films such as the comedy Slash (2016), the movie having got accepted into the 2016 SXSW film festival. He was brought up in Rutherfordton in North Carolina where, when he turned 12 years, he had started to audition for voice-overs in commercials as well as animation in a recording studio that he had built in his bedroom.
Michael has stated that he has taken interest in music and singing only after growing up. He had been road-tripping with his father when they were listening to music and he had remarked how Michael never sang, which had made Michael sing for him for the first time in the car. His father’s encouragement had made Michael discover how much he loved singing, and doing so soon became his favorite pastime, him having gone on to learn a new song almost every weekend and cherish making little videos.
He has disclosed that he has been able to do an old-lady voice.
He has affirmed that he had found Slash to be an exceptionally unique coming-of-age story and had been struck by its honesty and good storyline. Michael has recalled how he had been a little bit iffy initially but when the shooting started, he had gained confidence and later had been happy with how it had turned out.
He has remembered an amusing incident with a carrot during the filming of Teen Wolf. His co-star was throwing the vegetables at his other fellow actor Andrea Laing, from far away. Michael wanted to join the fun too and so had asked Dylan to throw one at him as well, and it had hit Michael directly in the face. It had been hilarious and painful at the same time.
