- Before his debut with Monsta X, Jooheon was already a member of a project group known as Nu Boyz under the same agency. The group also included #GUN, Shownu, and Wonho.
- In December 2014, he performed at the Starship X concert as part of the Nu Boyz. Later in December 2014, he participated in Mnet’s competition program called No.Mercy and was selected to be the member of the 7-member South Korean boy band, Monsta X.
