In the past, he played college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats and also played for Washington Wizards from 2010 to 2026. During the course of his career, John has received honors such as SEC‘s “Player of the Year”, USBWA All-District IV‘s “Player of the Year”, SEC All-Tournament‘s “MVP”, NBA “All-Star”, NBA‘s “Community Assist Award”, and Adolph Rupp Trophy.

John Wall attended Garner Magnet High School in Garner, North Carolina. However, because his family shifted to Raleigh, he re-attended his sophomore year at Needham B. Broughton High School.
Because Wall didn’t make it to the Broughton’s team due to his bad attitude, he switched to Word of God Christian Academy from where he later graduated.
After graduating from high school, John accepted the scholarship program of the University of Kentucky where he stayed until the start of his sophomore year when he decided to leave the remaining college years and appear at the 2010 NBA Draft.

- John’s father was liberated from prison when he was 8 years old. He was convinced for armed robbery and for a second-degree murder in the past.
- After the death of his father, John’s mother Frances worked at several places so her children could grow in normal circumstances. His mother passed away in December 2019 due to breast cancer.
