    Jack Leach Facts

    1. Before making it big in cricket, Jack had worked at a local branch of Sainsbury’s supermarket in his hometown of Taunton. He used to park trolleys there.
    2. When he was 14 years old, he was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, a disorder that can have an inflammatory effect on any part of the body’s gastrointestinal tract. He has battled the disorder through most of his playing career.
    3. Jack had graduated from the Somerset County Cricket Club academy in 2010 and before joining the club professionally, he had played for Dorset County Cricket Club in the 2010 Minor Counties Cricket Championship. He had played a vital role in the tournament’s final match, recording remarkable figures of 6/21 in the 2nd innings in his team’s winning performance against Lincolnshire.
    4. While he was studying for a sports coaching degree at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff, he had played for Cardiff MCCU in both 2011 and 2012. Interestingly, he had made his first-class (highest standard of domestic/international multiple days cricket) debut against his long-term future team Somerset County Cricket Club in March 2012.
    5. In the winter section of the 2012–13 English domestic season, he had temporarily moved to Australia to play grade cricket for the Valley District Cricket Club in Brisbane. He had played a key part in the team winning the local T20 competition.
    6. Upon his return to Somerset County Cricket Club the following summer, he had picked his maiden 5-wicket haul in his very first county championship match, in an impressive spell against the Warwickshire County Cricket Club, with 24 of his 44 overs being maidens (no runs conceded in an over).
    7. He has been given an offer of free Specsavers glasses for life.
