Having started his YouTube channel in January 2010, Dr DisRespect had posted gaming videos regularly on the channel until late 2011 after which he did not upload any content for nearly 5 years.
During this time, he had joined the American video game developer company Sledgehammer Games, Inc. as a community manager. He later worked as a level designer and had helped in the conception and development of several multiplayer maps for the first-person shooter video game Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. He eventually decided to focus on a full-time streaming career and started on that path in 2015.
