    2. He relocated to the United States from the Democratic Republic of the Congo when he was 21 in 1987, at the encouragement of his father and brother due to his height.
    3. Dikembe could fluently speak English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and five Central African languages, including Lingala and Tshiluba.

    5. Growing up, he played football and participated in martial arts.
    6. Initially, he intended to become a doctor. However, his Georgetown Hoyas basketball coach, John Thompson instead recruited him to play basketball.
