- He began his basketball journey at Proleter Zrenjanin in 1989.
- At the age of 15, Bodiroga was already 2.05 m tall.
- Dejan shifted to Zadar at the age of 17.
- He was about to leave basketball because of the Yugoslav wars.
- Despite Bodiroga had offers from AEK and Olympiacos, he decided to continue his career at Stefanel Trieste, a team coached by Bogdan Tanjevic.
- In his first year with Stefanel, Bodiroga averaged 21.3 points per game after playing 30 league matches.
- He shifted to the Spanish side Real Madrid before the start of 1996-1997 basketball season. Bodiroga penned a deal worth 1 million dollars. At the time, Real was led by the Serbian trainer Zeljko Obradovic.
- In the period from 1998 until 2002, Bodiroga competed for the Greek team Panathinaikos. He managed to lift the Euroleague trophy twice during the 1998-1999 and 2001-2002 seasons.
- Dejan moved to FC Barcelona in the summer of 2002. There, he achieved two domestic league titles and 1 Euroleague title which was the first one in Barcelona’s history.
- In 2007, he finished his basketball career playing for the Italian team Lottomatica Roma.
- Bodiroga officially retired from professional basketball on June 8, 2007.
- In June 2007, he became the general manager of Lottomatica Roma. Dejan left his position after two years in June 2009.
- Dejan Bodiroga is the second cousin of the famous Croatian basketball player Drazen Petrovic. Drazen lost his life in a car accident on June 7, 1993.
